AMVNews.ru holds the sixth thematic contest of Level Up series. The main idea behind the contest is to join forces of pro and novice music video creators and make them work in pairs. Partners exchange experience, and novice gains new skills in video making from his/her "elder" teammate, thus increasing his/her level drastically. As the previous contests (2009, 2011,  2012, 2013 и 2014) showed, this concept draws much interest of creators as well as of viewers' audience.

Thе contest is opened for pairs of AMV makers, Pro (experienced and acknowledged creator) + Novice (a beginner without significant achievements). A team’s goal is to create a small AMV through joint efforts, with the assumption that Pro doesn’t do editing and does not work on effects but does what he/she can to support the Novice technically.

Novice’s duties include: project settings adjustment, clips cutting, making of effects, AMV encoding.

Pro’s duties include: thinking the AMV concept over together with Novice, software using advice, advice on effects making, help in searhing for sources, beta testing, advice on video encoding, video upload and filling in the site form.

Contest schedule

2) Submission of videos from February 10th till March 1st, 2015

Author's comment: After finishing my The Signal trailer with Akira I decided I wanted to do a comedy trailer. I recently watched Knights of Badassdom and never heard of it before... I thought it was hilarious and liked the idea of making AoT like they are a bunch of larpers considering how many anime fans cosplay with it.
After coming in second during AWA pro voting I was really excited to see how crowds would respond to it and it won Best Trailer as well as Best in Show at Anime USA.

Author's comment: Kind of a rush job for Anime Weekend Atlanta's Professional contest (woops, spent all my time moving across the country and doing the Quickeing! >_> ), it was a finalist in a couple categories and lots of people at the con kept requesting it, so that made me happy, though!

About the project: In january 2014 I started this project after I totally fell in love with the song! It has been a long time since I last started editing because I really loved a song and wanted to see it in good combination with the right anime. I also wanted to edit with SAO (the Aincrad-part...everything else sucks) someday and so I took the chance.
It was a lot of fun working with this although it was very hard sometimes. I wanted to find the perfect scenes for every part of the song. That means I looked through every episode at least 20times and changed some parts on the timeline at least 100times lol
Seriously...the amv was a lot more work than it looks! The time I was busy with scene selection others would have built a whole fancy FX-video....and thats why it took this long for me to finish it - at least I decided to put an end to it now. I could have spent even more time with it but that wouldn't make it any better.

About the video: Simple story. I tried to fokus on Kirito and his feelings about saving the other players. He should look desperate and without much hope but always fighting to save others. That was the most difficult thing: not to use any scenes where he looks like he is having fun or something :D
