What do you get when you put together 3 editors with a love for The Promised Neverland and a competition deadline coming up? This video is a passion project that was made for the 2019 edition of AnimeCon. MarikoAMV's wish to make a MMV was finally turned into reality over the course of a month. In this month combined with 2 full weekends of editing, a ton of pizza and tea as the only liquid flowing through our veins.
It's a project from hell: 5 minutes autosave time, 45 minutes render time, 6 excel sheets and a lot more just to get this all done in time.
Storywise we couldn't tell everything the manga has to offer so we put our focus on the escape arc and also trying to show the good sides of Isabella. This was just as much a learning project for both Kagacie and AnimeTwins who were new to After Effects and Photoshop. The live response from the crowd was amazing and we hope you enjoy it as well!

Up, oh, the sky's opened up
The colours filled our skin
The lights sucked us in
And, oh, we had nowhere to go
We were quiet and indisposed
We had all that we loved
We were stolen away, in a daydream
Stolen away, in the light of the day
We were stolen away, in a daydream
Nothing else was real, so long as you're here
So long as you're here with me

Author's comment: A couple of years ago I made 2006AD, a video so named because it was an eleven year old idea that I'd been sitting on until I finally knuckled down and birthed it into the world. Finally finishing that idea that had been germinating in my head so long was a huge relief, like a weight lifted off my shoulders and offered out to the world, like a really heavy bird that's been living in your attic, eating all your old books. And all it took was going up there one day and opening a window to rid of it.
Naturally, I have a lot of theoretical birds in my hypothetical attic, so I figured I'd take this opportunity to deal with some of the especially heavy ones.
Which leads me to Kurozuka, a source that I have juggled between various hard drives since some time around 2009 or 2010. I am and always have been a pack rat and sometimes I latch onto a source even if I don't have specific plans for it.
At some point I attached it to this show and every time I happened across this song, I'd be reminded of this video idea and think "...maybe, eventually."
And then I made Hemoptysis, which is very much in the same vein as this idea, so maybe I didn't have to make this Kurozuka video after all. But...I still thought it might be good.
So early last month I said to hell with it and dug it out, encoded it, and got to work.
Unfortunately, it wasn't until I was neck deep in the project that I realized that the visual quality of these files I'd been hoarding were not great. But there wasn't much I could do about it because at this point, no one on earth besides me remembers this show, so it wasn't feasible to find a better copy.
That being said, you'll just have to deal with that and take the visual quality as a signifier of exactly how old this video is (in spirit).

Video created trying to make something different for my old standards, using different anime sources to create a single project. This is the first time I share a video here and I'm really happy about it!
Hope you like it!
