Description of Competition
Project Org Editor 2016 will be a online AMV competition split into 5 preliminary/ non-elimination rounds and 2 single-elimination rounds. There will be no registration deadline, and anyone can enter the competition at any point during the preliminary rounds. At the start of each round, a theme will be revealed and participants will have the option to either edit a video for that round or skip it. At the end of each round, the submitted videos will then be judged on the following criteria and scored: Editing (20), Concept (20), and Enjoyability (10). At the end of the preliminary rounds, the top 3 round totals from each participant will be tallied, and the 8 highest scoring editors will move on to the single-elimination finals and semifinals.

Specific Rules and Details
*Entrants may only join as an individual: MEPs or Collabs will not be accepted.
*To enter the competition, you must be a registered member of AnimeMusicVideos.org.
*Each participant will only be allowed to submit one video per round. Any entrant that attempts to submit multiple entries or register using multiple accounts will be disqualified.
*All AMVs entered into this contest must meet the A-M-V.org standards of uploading. Uploading to the site isn’t actually required, but if your video doesn’t meet these standards, it will not be accepted into the competition.
*The preliminary rounds will be held over 5 weeks (1 round per week).
*Each preliminary round will last exactly 7 days.
*Within 7 days of the end of each round, the judges will score all the submitted videos and post the round totals.
*Each preliminary round will start immediately after the previous round ends.
*There will be no preliminary round eliminations, and participants are allowed to enter as many or as few rounds as they choose.
*Participants are only required to edit for 3 of the 5 preliminary rounds to be eligible for the semifinals.
*Only a person’s top 3 preliminary round totals will be accepted regardless of how many rounds they participated in.
_____
*After the preliminary rounds are over, there will be a 1 week break, the top 3 round totals from each participant will be tallied, and everyone but the 8 highest scoring editors will be eliminated.
*After the preliminary round break, there will be an additional 2 rounds (Semifinals, and Finals).
*The top 4 participants from the semifinals will then be eligible for the final round.
*In the case of a tie at the end of either elimination round, the winner will be determined by their highest single round total from all previous rounds.

Note: At the end of each round, all the submitted videos will be made available to the public to stream on google drive. If you would like the download option to be disabled on your video and to only allow it to be streamed, please add this request to the body of your submission message. By default, all videos will be made available for download unless the editor specifically requests that it doesn't.

Editors also have the option to request that one of their videos be completely unavailable to the public, and only the judges will be able to view it. This option is only available during the preliminary rounds, can only be used once, and can not be changed to a different video (even if the editor chooses to remove the restriction on the previous one).

Round 1 has officially begun!

Round 1 Results
Current Standings

Welcome one and all the the start of Project Org Editor 2016! To start things off, we're gonna take you back to the early 2000's. This was a point in time when watching Saturday Morning Cartoons was the highlight of every child's week. And one that was especially popular was an American animated television series called "Jackie Chan Adventures". It stars a fictionalized version of action film star Jackie Chan, and follows him on his quest to find a collection of twelve powerful magical artifacts known as the Talismans of Shendu. Each talisman is named after a animal in the Chinese zodiac and grants its user a very unique power. If put in the wrong hands, these talismans can be used to revive the evil Shendu that threatens to take over the entire world.

Round Challenge
For round 1, you will be choosing one of the Twelve Talismans and editing a video inspired by their powers. Please note that the theme of your video should be their powers, and not simply the animals that they're named after. For example: Editing a video about dogs will not be enough to satisfy the theme if you choose the Dog Talisman. You're allowed to incorporate dogs into your video, but the core concept should be about its powers of "Immortality and Rejuvenation". A list of the powers relating to each Talisman can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EqDjEJPidVlbNYr4D3qfhqePNexYLdFyw1DNwOHpNI4/edit?usp=sharing

Round 1 Deadline:
Sunday, June 26th @ 11:59PM EST

Submitting Your Video:
When finished, please upload your video to a reputable file sharing service and send the download link to me via a private message on animemusicvideos.org. The body of your message should also include the name of the Talisman who's powers your video represents. Google Drive and Dropbox are the preferred methods of uploading your video, but please ensure that the URL you send is a “shared” or “public” link. Sendspace is not recommended due to a daily download limit that it imposes. Note: Youtube or ”streaming only” links will not be accepted. You do not have to wait until the final day to submit your video. You are also free to publicly share and upload your videos before the deadline. Just be aware that doing so may help your opponents. If you finish early and feel that your video does not need anymore tweaking, you may submit it at any time before Sunday, June 26th @ 11:59PM EST. At the end of each round, all the submitted videos will be made available to the public to stream on google drive.

Besides every great anime character is an even greater mascot character. That's how that saying goes right? And although they aren't usually at the center of attention, they still contribute to the story in their own special way. Whether its Pikachu from Pokemon, Kyubey from Madoka, or Kon from Bleach; these characters are known by people that aren't even familiar with the anime. And often times, they become the most iconic and recognizable figures of their respective franchises.

Round Challenge
For round 2, you will be creating a character profile AMV that centers around the mascot of an anime series. Please note that your chosen mascot character should be the main focus of the video, and showing it for just a scene or two will not be enough to satisfy the theme. Lists of popular mascot characters can be found here: *Crunchyroll: Top 20 Cutest Mascot Characters, *MAL: Top 10 Cute Animals & Mascots, *ANN: Favorite Mascots, *Sporcle Anime Collage, *Anime Yume: Top 10 Animal Mascots. These lists are by no means comprehensive, and you are free to pick mascot characters that aren't mentioned.

There's a fine line between passion and obsession. But once it gets crossed, even a simple hobby can become extreme and excessive. Obsessions are defined as: "ideas or thoughts that continually preoccupies or intrudes on a person's mind". And although many people say that obsession breeds creativity, when left unchecked, obsessions can sometimes become unhealthy addictions.

Round Challenge
For round 3, you will be creating an AMV that centers around an addiction or obsession. You're allowed to choose anything you want as the target of the obsession, but keep in mind that it should be the main focus of the video. And so showing it for just a scene or two will not be enough to satisfy the theme.

Round 4 Results
Current Standings

Teamwork makes the dream work; and when Together, Everyone Achieves More. Because no matter how strong or talented you are; some challenges are just to big to do until you Stand United.

Round Challenge
For round 4, you'll be creating a video that doesn't just focus on a main character or star player. Instead, you'll be showcasing a team or collaboration; and highlighting the individuals within it. The core concept of your video should be the teamwork of the characters featured in your video; and so simply showing them for a scene or 2 will not be enough to satisfy the theme. By the end of the video, the viewer should be able to see their contributions, and understand their importance.

"One of the best inventions ever was the book. A book lets you zoom through time and space, but don't bother packing; you can stay in one place. When you read a good book, you bring the book to life. But you don't have to take my word for it.”. - Levar Burton, host of Reading Rainbow

Round Challenge
For the final preliminary round, you will be creating an AMV inspired by a form of literature. This can be a novel, folklore, fable, fairytale, poem or whatever form of literature that you like. You may tell the story as it was originally told, or put your own creative spin on it. But for the purpose of this competition; comic books, manga, and other forms of anime derivative works are not permitted to be selected as the referenced literature.

Semifinal Results
Current Standings

All good anime must eventually come to an end. But even the best endings can sometimes leave you wanting more. Whether its a loose string that never got tied up, or a conclusion that felt a little too forced; there's always room for improvement.

Round Challenge
Congratulations to Angeldragoon, UnluckyArtist, Scara99, MadMegatax, MoonlightFilly, OnyxAMVs, Pikapwn, and SeanPNG for making it to the Semifinals. For this round, the theme shall be “How It Should Have Ended”. And so you'll be editing a AMV that alters the plot of an anime, and creates a new ending for it. This can be anything from completely rewriting the story or making an addition to the preexisting or canon conclusion. This is the Semifinals, so you've already proven that you can be creative and innovative. So show us what you got! Only the editors with the top 4 videos will advance to the next round.

Note: Due to the nature of this round, it's highly encouraged that all participants write a short description of how you altered the ending of your anime. Keep in mind that the judges aren't familiar with every anime in existence, so your video might need some explanation.

Current Standings

The best stories almost always feature characters going on adventures that take them to brand new lands. Whether its to search for treasure, defeat a great evil, save or friend, or to simply find oneself, these journey's often change their lives forever.

Congratulations to Angeldragoon, UnluckyArtist, Scara99, and MadMegatax for making it to the finals! For this round, the theme shall be Adventure Time! You'll need to create a video that showcases a character's adventure or journey and the changes that resulted from it. You can choose to focus on how the journey changed the character, or how the character's journey brought change to the world around them. Either way is fine. And remember, that this is your last chance to show us what you got. The editor with the highest total for this round will be crowned our 2016 Project Org Editor Champion!
